I’ve always enjoyed doing a little personal blogging and recently have been a bit too busy for this fun little way of getting thoughts out there.<br /><br /><br />This year I have been trying to get in the Christmas spirit. I sit here after playing some TF2, wondering why Christmas doesn’t have that magical feeling this year. I’m a huge fan of Christmas. I usually start listening to Christmas music before Halloween gets here, and while most people are complaining when they see early Christmas supplies out in the stores, this August when I saw Christmas wrapping paper on sale, I was pretty happy and excited.<br /><br /><br />As usual near the end of October, I loaded up some Christmas music in my car to rock out too, but quickly got bored of it. I just wasn’t feeling it and figured I would by the time Thanksgiving rolled around. Nope, not even Aaron Neville’s Soulful Christmas CD could put me in the spirit, and man can he bust out the “O Holy Night.”<br /><br />Perhaps, its knowing a lot of people who have lost their job this year, some near the holiday season. Perhaps it’s the uncertainty of the economy, spiritual discomfort/confusion, having a really busy past few months, the lack of snow in my area (I hate you PA), the lack of my aunt’s typical Christmas cookies, or some other personal unrest I’ve yet to discover. Either way, I just find myself thinking of today as a normal day. Its 2 am, the day hasn’t started, perhaps when I’m having lunch with family eating ham and really gross macaroni and cheese, this will change. <br /><br />Maybe after I’m done eating and I pop in my usual Christmas movie-something from my Star Wars collection (don’t ask), I will feel the holiday season.<br /><br />I really hope so.
